The Easy1541 cable

Construction

You need the following parts to build this cable:

  • One solderable 6-pin male DIN plug (Commodore serial plug)
  • One solderable 25-pin male plug (PC parallel plug)
  • A shielded 4-wire or unshielded 5-wire cable of, preferably at most, 2 meters

Step 1. Solder one end of the cable onto the DIN plug.

Step 2. Solder the other end of the cable onto the parallel plug. You should have the following connections:

DIN plug Parallel plug
 2, GND  20, GND
 3, ATN   5, D3
 4, CLK   6, D4 and 8, D6
 5, DATA   7, D5 and 9, D7
 6, RESET  16, RESET

Note that pins 4 (CLK) and 5 (DATA) of the DIN plug are connected to two pins each at the Amiga end. You can do that with a pair of short wires cut off of the cable.
